The HO is our celebrated master chef who ties all the pieces of the company together, neatly. The HO oversees the day-to-day operations of the business including processes, reporting, improvements, and personnel. The HO is responsible for improving the productivity of the company, and manages employees, is an excellent problem solver, and exhibits A-level leadership qualities. The HO oversees the delivery of all operational functions and coordinates the entire company

Your role

  • Manage Upstart’s business delivery to ensure exceptional client service and a high-performing team, creating an optimal environment for the innovation, strategy, and growth functions of Upstart
  • Provide coordination, direct line management of the day to day operations, and ultimate oversight of teams
  • Support the development and sustainability of high-performing team spirit, and encourage and sustain an ethos of client-centricity in service delivery
  • Contribute to the leadership in the Upstart management team, acting as second in command to the CEO
  • Operate as Officer-in-Charge when the CEO is unavailable
  • Independently and/ or as directed by the CEO, prepare board reports on business operations, organization/teams and periodic performances of the company
  • Lead Upstart’s organization and operations, including legal, professional development and HR to support and grow a vibrant high-performing team and strong organisation capable of scaling and succeeding in a competitive college placement market space
  • Ensure that systems and processes are in place to promote and emphasize high performance across staff, including building Upstart’s culture of a fun, vibrant, and energetic workplace
  • Implement performance management systems towards fair appraisal and strong employee engagement and professional development
  • Anticipate and mitigate operational risks and oversee compliance with policies, procedures and legal requirements, including coordinating with pertinent external stakeholders

Desired profile

  • Substantial (3+ years’) experience successfully managing client service business operations in an education space, latterly as Head of Business / Deputy Director/ COO or equivalent level
  • Strong organization-level operational skills and experience, successfully deployed in the following functions: Client service, project management, team/HR, finance, and legal
  • Demonstrable interest in or commitment to education, particularly international higher education
  • Successful track-record working for innovative, adaptive organisations that seek continual improvement in efficiency, quality, and organisational management towards enhanced creation of business value
  • Strong people management and inter-personal skills to seek and bring out the best in a young, ambitious, energetic team
  • Ability to strive for consensus and compromise and settle interests between the interests of different parts of an organisation
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality services to clients, on time and exceeding expectations
  • Willingness to adapt, adjust, and innovate in a fast-growing and evolving college placement space externally, and innovation internally
  • MBA a plus

The HC is the leader on all curriculum, and content development and execution. The HC brings together all the coaches, trains them, guides them, and ensures seamless execution of lessons and projects geared towards test preparation, college application and matriculation. 

Your role

  • Manage Upstart’s coaches and students, ensuring seamless coordination between the two in line with schedules and objectives for each cohort and program
  • Design Upstart programs in liaison with the coaches and instructors
  • Provide periodic training and upskilling to coaches and instructors
  • Develop content and R&D material and ideas/ innovation and interface for sign off with management

Desired profile

  • 2+ years’ experience at middle to senior level within an innovative education space
  • Strong coordination and operational skills and experience, and experience managing education coaches, tutors and/ or instructors
  • Demonstrable interest in or commitment to education, particularly international higher education
  • Successful track-record working for innovative, adaptive education institutions that seek continual improvement in efficiency, quality, and organisational management towards enhanced creation of business value
  • Strong people management and inter-personal skills to seek and bring out the best in a young, ambitious, energetic team

Our test prep coaches deliver content across SAT Reasoning Test, SAT Subject Tests, TOEFL, and graduate level entry tests like GMAT and GRE.

Your role

  • Develop highly professional and impactful tutorials based on Upstart’s existing modules, including standardized tests components, and mock and practice tests
  • Conduct Upstart designed tutorial and coaching sessions with applicants, including private and program-wide coaching
  • Design and maintain coaching schedules with applicants, learning institutions, educational programs, and parents
  • Conduct invigilation, scoring and subsequent full review of standardized tests on a timely basis
  • Closely assess learnings and performance outcomes of applicants, and escalate data to Upstart’s Head Coach all the while maintaining standards of confidentiality per Upstart’s Terms and Conditions
  • Promote suitable environment for quick and substantial learning using proven methods suitable for pre-university learning
  • Promote the Upstart Consult brand to potential clients and partners
  • Perform any other roles assigned

Desired profile

  • Degree in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or English preferred
  • An understanding and sell-out to the mission and vision of Upstart Consult
  • Proven track record in successfully coaching standardized tests, including SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, TOEFL, GRE and/ or GMAT a plus
  • Demonstrable attention to detail, including ‘finicky-ness’ for perfection
  • Great client management skills

Our application coaches are the guiding light to successful admissions for our applicants after the applicants are successfully done with their tests. Our application coaches not only guide in writing but also counsel and match applicants to colleges of best fit for optimized admissions.

Your role

  • Develop highly professional and impactful coaching based on benchmarked modules, including advanced writing components, and creative writing workshops
  • Support applicants in developing and refining their college essays and financial aid applications, and provide gainful and personalized guidance on preparing for college and career in the US and Canada
  • Promote the Upstart Consult brand to potential clients and partners
  • Perform any other roles assigned

Desired profile

  • Certificate or experience in advanced and creative writing a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree a must
  • An understanding and sell-out to the mission and vision of Upstart Consult
